DISCOVER THE ROBEEC HIVE:
A Harmony between Nature and Beekeeping
Journey to the heart of beekeeping excellence with the Robeec Hive, the result of decades of research and studies aimed at understanding the natural habitat of bees. Our adventure began in 1980, driven by a passion for studying the natural environment of these incredible pollinators. Today, we are proud to present the Robeec Hive at its peak—a model that closely mirrors the natural homes of native bees.
Let us introduce you to the exceptional features that set the Robeec hive apart from other European hive models:
1.Dimensions Inspired by Nature The dimensions of the Robeec Hive are meticulously compared to the natural habitats of indigenous bees. We place a strong emphasis on preserving temperature
ideal temperature of 36 degrees Celsius, creating the perfect haven for the colony to thrive.
2. Respect for the Queen : Nos cadres carrés et notre volume cubique assurent la préservation du motif circulaire de la ponte du couvain par la reine, favorisant un environnement où sa majesté peut s’épanouir.
3.Safety against predators : The Robeec hive flight hole is designed to be easily defendable, protecting the colony from predators and other unwanted pests.
4.Wood species not attacked by termites : Nous utilisons une essence de bois qui n’est pas attaquée par les termites, garantissant ainsi la durabilité et la longévité de la ruche.
5. Thickened and dried wood minimum 6 months : Our wood is carefully dried for at least 6 months. Its thickness is much greater than that of other beehive constructions, ensuring greater isolation and resistance to the harshest weather conditions.
6. Robust mounting : All parts of the hive are carefully assembled using the glue-laminated technique, reinforced with internal nails, to ensure maximum strength.
7. Standard dimensions : The Robeec beehive is designed with a single dimension of wood to reduce losses, thus avoiding unnecessary offcuts and waste.
8. Racks in Brushed Iron : The raw-iron racks are non-toxic and allow regular spacing, in harmony with the colony's biology.
9. Concrete deck and roof for maximum stability : The concrete board protects the base of the hive from damage caused by seasonal rains, and the heavy roof made of the same material ensures great stability, particularly in the event of winds that can sometimes be violent.
10. Identical cube between layers : When additional levels are added, they are of the same dimensions. This greatly facilitates frame management between brood boxes and honey supers. All levels are identical, simplifying beekeeping procedures.
The Robeec hive has been specially designed to be in harmony with Rwanda's indigenous bees, respecting their life and inner ecosystem.

-And more practical beekeeping techniques.
BUILDING THE ROBEEC HIVE
The hive construction workshop provides carpenters with good working conditions and ample space to work efficiently.
OUR APIARIES
We are always on the lookout for new land to rent for placing our hives, ideally in locations near forests that are more than 3 km apart to prevent bee overpopulation. Each hive is placed more than 3 meters apart from the others. This technique helps reduce stress on the bees during hive inspections and minimizes foraging drift.
